How to install Android Oreo(Lineage OS 15) on Redmi 1s

Yes! Android Oreo is unofficially available on Redmi 1s. You can download it on the xda thread of redmi 1s under development tabs. The rom is called Lineage OS 15.

Android Oreo focuses more on performance and efficiency. There are not many visual tweaks. The main feature is picture in picture mode for apps like Youtube, Hangouts, etc.

Make sure you see the bugs before downloading. As of now the camera is not working and other bugs are present. I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE IF YOUR PHONE IS DAMAGED.

STEPS:

  1. You must have a rooted device. If you don’t have a rooted device you can google it.
  2.  Then you must have custom recovery installed like twrp recovery.
  3. Dowload Gapps for Android Oreo and the Lineage 15 Rom on SD card.
  4. Backup your current rom by going into recovery and selecting backup current rom
  5. Factory reset using twrp recovery.
  6. Install the Rom and then Gapps zip.
  7. Reboot the device and wait for some time. It may take longer than usual so be patient.
  8. Now set up and enjoy the new Android Oreo experience.

I won’t recommend you installing the rom as of now cause it is not that stable and has a lot of bugs. So wait for more days and keep checking the response on the xda thread. When all the bugs are gone you can then enjoy.
